Astros pitcher helps save injured dog
HOUSTON - A player on the Houston Astros is helping an injured Texas pooch get a second shot at life.
Abby Frizzel found a dog that couldn't walk and had likely been hit by a car.
After taking the poor pup to the vet, she found out the dog had a punctured lung, a fractured elbow, and a broken back leg.
The vet told Frizzel the dog would need to be immediately put to death because the surgery would end up costing more than $10,000.
Abby decided to post the dog's story on GoFundMe, where she quickly raised $7,500.
Then Houston Astros pitcher Dallas Keuchel decided to pick up the rest of the tab.
"I kind of laughed. But there was no doubt in my mind that I wasn't going to raise the money," Abby said.
Little Holly is expected to get her casts off in a couple of weeks, and her doctor says she will be 100 percent healthy.
The Astros pitcher who stepped up also says he's going to adopt her.
