Atlanta United ready for second leg of the Eastern Conference in New York
NEW YORK (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Atlanta United is getting ready for the second leg of the Eastern Conference final against the Red Bulls on Thursday and a possible trip to the MLS Cup.
Atlanta heads into the match with a 3-0 advantage after last Sunday's first leg. But New York is only one of two losses for the Red Stripes during the regular season.
Sunday night, the Atlanta saved their very best for the postseason, pounding the Red Bulls 3-0 at home in an always packed Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Because of that, New York will have to win by two goals or a draw Thursday.
The winner will go on to play the winner of the Western Conference final between Sporting Kansas City and the Portland Timbers in the MLS Cup title match on Dec. 8. The Timbers and Sporting played to a scoreless draw on Sunday and also play a second leg on Thursday.
