Curlers from across the Southeast gather in Marietta

MARIETTA, Ga. (FOX 5 News) - Who says the South can’t play winter sports?

There doesn’t need to be snow on the ground to go slide across the ice as a curling tournament swept into the Atlanta area this weekend.

The Peachtree Curling Association hosted their annual tournament in Marietta.

Two dozen teams came from all over the Southeast and from farther away as well.

Organizers said popularity has been picking up since Team USA won a gold medal in men's curling at the last Olympics

If you're like me, half of your brain thinks... I could do that!

The other half thinks... I might hurt myself.
