Supporters ready to cheer on Atlanta United in MLS Cup
ATLANTA - If you stop by the Atlanta United team store at Atlantic Station, it is clear that supporters are hungry for a win.
"I'm hoping that we can get a championship, [be]cause we have a history of not completing. You know, getting all the way to the end and then not finishing the championship," said Atlanta native T.J. Shoemaker. "So, I'm hoping Atlanta United will change that."
United will face off with the Portland Timbers in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Saturday's MLS Cup. They have already made Atlanta sports history by making it to the top of their sport in just two years as a franchise.
"When they brought the team in, I knew it was going to be big. I didn't know it would grow to this scale though," said Brandon Bernard, who has season tickets.
Employees said the team store has been busy all week as people buy up jerseys and MLS Cup merchandise ahead of Saturday's match.
"They're super excited for the final coming," Bernard explained. "I mean; tons of people are going to be going."
