Sprayberry alum standing out for Sooners
LOS ANGELES - One former High 5 star hoping to play a factor in the Rose Bowl is hoping to disappoint many of the friends he grew up with. Oklahoma true freshman running back Trey Sermon says plenty of his friends back home in Marietta are long-time Bulldogs fans, and he grew up competing with several members of UGA's current team.
"It's exciting, I know a lot of the guys on [Georgia's team], it'll be really run competing against them," said Sermon.
Sermon went to Sprayberry High School, where he was recruited by Georgia before ultimately deciding to head to Oklahoma. He says the Bulldogs were one of the teams he considered, and many friends tried to gently nudge him to Athens.
"At the time, they were [in consideration]," said Sermon. "Once I visited [Oklahoma], I knew this was the right place for me. I just felt at home. Not that I didn't [at Georgia], but I went with my gut feeling."

Sermon says his mom told him to follow his instincts and commit where his gut told him to. That decision has worked out so far: Sermon is second on the Sooners in rushing yards this season and has scored seven total touchdowns.
It is hard, however, being far from family, especially not getting to see his mother as often as he'd like.
"It's a little tough because she can't come out as much as she wants to," said Sermon, "but she definitely tries to come out a few times."
