Cleanup after powerful storms tear through Georgia
ATLANTA - Cleanup is underway in many parts of metro Atlanta after powerful storms ripped through Georgia Monday, taking down trees as well as power-lines and leaving thousands without power.

Some of the hardest hit areas included south Fulton County and Haralson County, where schools are closed Tuesday due to impassable roads from storm debris.
The National Weather Service confirmed early Tuesday afternoon that a tornado struck down in one south Fulton neighborhood. The NWS will also be investigating whether tornadoes caused damage to homes in Haralson County.

At least two people were hospitalized in Haralson County after two trees fell on a house in Buchanan. It happened at a home along Tallapoosa Street.
Officials said the storms turned deadly in Crisp County, Georgia where an off-duty Georgia State Patrol trooper was killed and his young daughter was rushed to a Macon hospital. The 2-year-old is listed in critical condition.
An Atlanta Police officer was also injured after a tree fell on his patrol car in Fulton County. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital.

The same storm system that battered Alabama and Georgia took aim Tuesday at a large part of Florida and coastal communities in Georgia and the Carolinas.
