ATLANTA - There are plenty of clues that spring has arrived in Atlanta, including blooming trees and warming temperatures. But listen closely, and you’ll hear another one – the sweet sounds of jazz music floating through the city.
The Atlanta Jazz Festival was started back in 1978, and has become one of the country’s largest free jazz festivals. This year’s big event takes place May 27th through the 29th (Memorial Day weekend) at Piedmont Park, and includes performances by Gregory Porter, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, and Elaine Elias. Leading up to Memorial Day weekend, Atlanta Jazz Festival is presenting 31 Days of Jazz, with performances every day in May at various locations around the city.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at Atlanta City Hall, talking to festival organizers and grooving along with singer Brenda Nicole Moorer.
