You can do just about anything on an iPad the days, from reading a book and watching a movie to drawing a picture or paying bills.  And now, the team behind a Midtown Atlanta restaurant hopes iPads lead to an unforgettable dining experience for those looking for an intimate night out.

Bytes Restaurant is billed as “Midtown’s first iPad-driven restaurant,” and opened in October of 2017 in Atlanta’s Tech Square.  The restaurant features tablets at each table, on which guests can browse through the menu and order food and drinks; orders are then immediately sent to the kitchen staff without the need of a human to write them down and hand-deliver them to chefs.  That said, there are still actual servers (not just computer servers) at Bytes, who can also be summoned through — you guessed it — the iPad.

General manager Razzie Odom explains, "Instead of me coming to your table, touching your table 15 times while you're maybe sitting down having an intimate dinner with your husband or your wife or you're having a nice business luncheon…I come to your table as needed, versus coming to the table to actually interrupt everything that you have going on."  The restaurant’s technology also lends itself to a visual feast; the private dining room is mapped to six projectors, which can transform the look of the room from everything to a field of fireflies to a rain-soaked resort.

Bytes Restaurant is open Mondays-Thursdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to Midnight, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and is located at 848 Spring Street NW in Atlanta.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at Bytes Restaurant, checking out the cutting-edge technology and -- of course -- tasting some food!
