Max's Backyard: FOX 5 employees build park for CHOA service dogs
ATLANTA - Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite has a new dog park at the hospital called "Max's Backyard." FOX 5 employees volunteered to help create the park in honor of 21st Century FOX Impact Week, a nationwide initiative from our parent company for employees to volunteer and help make a positive social impact in the community in which we work and live.

All of the volunteering projects serve children, veterans, the environment, victims of the recent hurricanes, and others that need support. The social impact areas are creativity and the arts, sports and well-being, knowledge and exploration, sustainability, and diversity.
Max’s Backyard is a project that is not only near and dear to the heart of our favorite future service dog, Max, but many other service dogs and their owners as well. It will be a “place of their own” for the many service dogs that work at CHOA brightening the days of children and their families during difficult times.
The CHOA service dogs are from Canine Assistants, the non-profit FOX 5 is partnering with to help teach Max to become a service dog for a veteran in need.
The volunteer project was a great opportunity for employees of FOX 5 to get together, away from the office, and work together for a common goal.
"We're serious about getting out there, volunteering and impacting our communities in a good way in whatever way that we can," FOX 5 anchor Tom Haynes said.
"You see your colleagues in the everyday work environment, you're inside, and this is a way to come out and it's a little camaraderie, helping each other, doing projects, kicking dirt, just having a little fun while you're helping the community," said Good Day Atlanta executive producer Amy Oates.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony took place Friday morning, marking the official opening of Max's Backyard. Max attended the event and enjoyed running around the new park, without his leash.
Roughly 3,000 21st Century FOX employees in 25 cities around the country participated in Impact Week. The plan is for the initiative to go global in 2018, including in Latin America, Europe, and Asia.
