Real-life 'Captain America' spices up movie tours

ATLANTA - A superhero is a superhero, in or out of costume.  And Metro Atlanta’s own “Captain America” is proving that, whether he’s planning a military mission or surprising guests on a movie tour.

Jonathan Sellars was dressed as Captain America at last year's Dragon Con when he was approached by the Atlanta Movie Tours team, which was looking for character impersonators to appear on special tours and events in costume.  Little did those team members realize that Sellars really is a Captain, serving with the Georgia National Guard as an aviation operations officer, planning and coordinating training and scheduling resources for deploying units.  Capt. Sellars now takes part in custom tours and special events for Atlanta Movie Tours, often appearing at locations around town that were used in the filming of the  2016 box office hit Captain America: Civil War.  When asked about wearing his Captain America costume, he says, "It brings out the kid, I think, in everybody...It's nice to see the adults kind of revert back and love it, but then the kids also, with this new era of Marvel, are also in it just as much as I was when I was a kid."

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent some time with this real-life Captain America, learning more about why he didn't hesitate to take on this new "role" as a comic book icon.
