Stone Summit brings bouldering into the city
ATLANTA - There are many things you’d expect to see in the middle of a metropolitan city like Atlanta – but rock climbing isn’t necessarily among them. But thanks to one of the biggest names in North Georgia climbing, urban dwellers can get their fix without ever leaving Midtown.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning checking out Stone Summit Midtown, located on Peachtree Street near The Fox Theatre. It’s the third Stone Summit Climbing & Fitness Center location, after the flagship location in Atlanta and a second location in Kennesaw.
Stone Summit Midtown is a “bouldering-only” gym, which means you won’t find any sky-high climbing walls with ropes and harnesses. Bouldering is done on smaller rocks and climbing walls, without belay systems, focusing instead on the bare essentials of climbing.
Stone Summit Midtown is located at 715 Peachtree Street NE (Lower Level) in Atlanta, and is open on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Tuesday and Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
