State Parks get 'cooler' during fall & winter months

LITHIA SPRINGS, Ga. - If you didn't believe it was fall before this weekend, you probably believe it now.  The air is much cooler and the leaves have finally changed, and that means a completely different experience at Georgia's State Parks and Historic Sites.

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent the morning at Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs, learning more about the fall and winter activities planned at the popular state park.  With more than 2,500 acres and 15 miles of hiking trails, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the park's unique landscape during the cooler months, and park managers say this time of year is especially notable for the spectacular fall foliage and bird-watching.  And if it's just too cold for you outside, Sweetwater Creek State Park is home to a Visitor Center and Museum filled with exhibits dedicated to the park's history and wildlife.

If you're interested in visiting, Sweetwater Creek State Park is located at 1750 Mount Vernon Road in Lithia Springs, and the park is open from 7:00 a.m. to dark daily.  There is a $5 parking fee for admission, but annual passes are available.
