Argentina advances to World Cup final with 2-1 win over England

Argentina advanced to the World Cup final after rallying to defeat England 2-1 on Wednesday in Atlanta.

England took an initial lead following a goal by Anthony Gordon before Argentina launched a late-game offensive response. Enzo Fernández scored the equalizing goal in the 85th minute after intense pressure late in regulation time. 

Substitute Lautaro Martínez headed in the game-winning goal two minutes into injury time to seal the victory. 

Argentina will travel to East Rutherford, New Jersey, to play Spain on Sunday as it seeks its second straight World Cup title. 

While the Argentines travel to New Jersey, England will head to Miami for the "Bronze final" against France at Hard Rock Stadium. 

There is a historic rivalry between Argentina and England that stretches back decades and includes some of the most controversial moments in football history and geopolitical tensions.
