Trees kills man in Cherokee County mobile home

A man was killed after a large oak tree crushed a mobile home in Cherokee County.

A man died after a tree fell on a mobile home Thursday morning in Cherokee County, officials say.

According to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, Franklin Whyte, 22 of Acworth, was discovered dead inside the residence, located at the Eastgate community on Bells Ferry Road. It appears Whyte was lying in bed when the tree struck the mobile home. Three other adults and a child who also lived in the residence were unharmed.

The victim was inside the Cherokee County home early Thursday morning.

Three other adults and a child who also lived in the residence were unharmed.

Tropical Storm Zeta brought strong wind gusts and heavy rainfall throughout parts of Georgia early Thursday morning. The wind and rain resulted in downed trees on homes, interstates, and major roadways.

The tree fell on the corner of the home.
