Manhunt for person who shot teen in Atlanta

A 15-year-old was in critical condition on Monday morning. Police said a boy was sitting outside when a confrontation began with suspects inside a white Kia.

Atlanta police are searching for the person who shot a 15-year-old in the arm Monday morning, the teen ended up in critical condition.

The shooting happened just after 10 a.m. on Oakland Lane at the Oakland City West End Apartments.

"The gentleman was outside with his friends hanging out when a white vehicle, Kia, pulled up ask a question, then an argument ensued, the white Kia shot the young man," APD Sgt. Michael Young revealed.

Police say the teen was shot in the arm, but the bullet ended up doing a lot more damage The slug entered  his arm, went through the arm and into the stomach.

Atlanta police update on teenager shot in SW Atlanta

The Atlanta Police Department said a 15-year-old boy is in surgery after he was hit in the arm with a bullet that passed into his stomach. Police are canvassing the area for a white Kia occupied by two "younger" men.

"Right now he's in surgery. We don't know his condition, but it is critical," Sgt. Young lamented.

Police swarmed the area looking for suspects. They say several witnesses are cooperating, but right now, no arrests.

Some residents say violence is too common here.

"These apartments are deadly. This happens every other day," Minnie Pearl commented.

Police said the injured boy is from Clayton County, and they're trying to determine why the boy was out of school.
