ATLANTA - Two people have been shot in the 2200 block of Hill Street NW in the Almond Park area in NW Atlanta, according to Atlanta police.
Officers responding around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday to a person shot call on Thursday afternoon found two people with gunshot wounds. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and another person was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital.
"The male that's at Grady went and knocked on the door for help and that homeowner called 911," said Atlanta Police Homicide Commander Lt. Andrew Smith.
"I kind of bust my door open and I was talking to him, and I was like, ‘I’m calling 911. Are you OK?’ And he was just saying he was shot, he was shot in the chest, in the arm, or what have you. As 911 was trying to get me to go help him with his wounds, I asked him, I said, ‘Is anybody else with you?’ And he said, ‘Yeah, my friend is shot.’ And he pointed," a neighbor told FOX 5 News
Lt. Smith identified the victim as being a 21-year-old man from Douglasville. Investigators do not know why he was in Atlanta at the time of the shooting.
Police also added that they were not yet clear of the relationship between the two people who were shot, but believe the shooting was not random.
It was not clear if there was anyone else involved.
