20-year-old man shot at NW Atlanta apartment complex

A 20-year-old man was recovering Thursday after officers said they found him shot to the back overnight in northwest Atlanta.

Atlanta police said the victim told investigators he was driving through the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 500 block of Northside Circle shortly before 1 a.m. when he was shot at an apartment building close to his own. Police said the man kept driving and was shot in the back while trying to leave the area.

Police said he was able to get to his apartment, where he was met outside by his father who was investigating the shooting. They were able to call for help. He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition. His condition as of Thursday evening was not known.

A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

Investigators said the man's vehicle was struck four times on the passenger side: the first shot was side fender, the second was front passenger door, third back passenger door and forth back passenger fender. The other two shots hit the rear back window.

The victim's father told police before the shooting, he saw a man dressed in all black with a blue mask and blue gloves. Police said no one actually saw the shots being fired.

Investigators recovered four 9mm bullet casing on the ground.
