Young girl shot while riding in car, police say
A young girl was shot while riding in a car. It is part of the recent uptick in crime in Buckhead.
ATLANTA - Police are investigating after they say a young child was shot while riding in a car in Buckhead.
Atlanta police said officers responded to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite around 9 p.m. There, officers met with family members of a 7-year-old that was shot while riding in a car.
According to police, the child's aunt said she was driving by Phipps Plaza on Peachtree Road when she heard gunshots. A short time later, she noticed the child was acting strangely and realized they were shot.
Police said the child was listed in critical condition as of Tuesday morning.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting were not immediately known.
The name of the child has not been released.
