An Acworth man is able to get to work thanks to an act of kindness by local police detectives.

On March 4, Anthony Jones woke up and left his home in Acworth only to find his moped scooter was stolen in the middle of the night.

Jones, who works at a grocery store in the area, uses the scooter as his only means of transportation and was devastated when he found out that it was stolen.

Soon after they got the call, Acworth police detectives discovered the scooter in a Bartow County tow yard and drove Jones to pick it up. Tragically, after paying the $250 escrow fee, Jones found out that the scooter was damaged beyond repair.

Jones, now out a scooter and $250 poorer, seemed stuck, but that's when the detectives started planning their big surprise.

After partnering with Mooney Motorsports, the officers used funds from the department's Chaplain Fund to buy Jones a brand new scooter and lock so it wouldn't get stolen again.

Now Jones has a way to get to work on time, and he's extremely thankful for the kindness of the Acworth Police Investigations Division!
