Acworth Police: Man shot near high school

ACWORTH, Ga. - A lot of concern from parents and residents in an Acworth neighborhood Friday night after a man was shot.

It happened at the Blue Springs Village office park located in the 3500 block of Old 41 Hwy NW. That is directly across the street from North Cobb High School.

Acworth Police said a 25-year-old man was shot in his truck which was parked in the shopping center just before 8:30 p.m. and was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital.

The man’s young brother, who was in the driver's seat at the time of the shooting, was questioned by police.

Investigators said they are looking for at least two people involved in the shooting, but any more details about the suspects were not immediately available.

The high school was busy Friday night as it was a hosting Hillgrove High School in varsity boys’ soccer match. Several parents and residents called FOX 5 News concerned about the incident.

Police believe the shooting is not related to the high school or its activities.
