Nearly 100 crews from Alabama Power are in Cobb County as they prepare to head to the areas damaged by Hurricane Florence.

Duke Energy estimates as many as three million people could be without power because of the storm.

COMPLETE COVERAGE: Hurricane Florence

Alabama Power was called to assist. Once the storm moves through and it’s safe for crews to enter, Alabama Power workers will begin restoring power to places like gas stations, hospitals and grocery stores first.

Then, they will head to neighborhoods without power working 16 hour days to get communities back on their feet.

The crews will be sent to wherever is hit hardest, and they’ve packed to stay for multiple weeks at a time.
