ATLANTA - After several hours of searching for an 11-year-old boy and his mother were reported to police to have been abducted by two men late Saturday morning, the mother tells FOX 5 it was all a misunderstanding.
The incident prompted a Levi's Call, Georgia's Amber Alert System for missing and abducted children.
The cell phones of most Georgians received the emergency alert on Saturday afternoon asking them to be on the lookout for a black Jeep Compass. That was the vehicle reported to the Atlanta Police Department that sped off with 38-year-old Kerline Lubin and her 11-year-old son.
Witnesses told police they saw the mother and son get into the vehicle with two men near a home along Abner Terrace in southwest Atlanta around 11 a.m. Saturday.

Police named 38-year-old Leonard Cross as a suspect in the alleged abduction. Investigators say Cross is the ex-boyfriend of Lubin. Police call Cross armed and dangerous.
Lubin tells FOX 5 they were not abducted and they are safe. She offered no explanation as to how the alert was sparked.
Officers saturated several southwest Atlanta neighborhood searching for the mother and son. Police officially canceled the alert shortly after 8 p.m.
Investigators say Cross is still listed as a suspect in the case as of Sunday afternoon. It was not immediately clear if police were still actively searching for him.
Police say they are investigating.
