Atlanta Community Food Bank breaks ground

ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The Atlanta Community Food Bank breaks ground on its new headquarters.

The food bank held a ceremony Friday afternoon at the new facility's location on Desert Drive.

Officials say the food bank distributes more than 70 million pounds of food a year.

Even still, they estimate nearly 820,000 people living in the counties they serve still experience food insecurity.

Officials say this new, larger facility will allow for better distribution of food and resources.
