Atlanta Community Food Bank celebrates Hunger Action Month
September is Hunger Action Month, which is designed to inspire people to take action and raise awareness of the fact that 41 million Americans, including nearly 13 million children, are food insecure.
This year's campaign is focusing on the strong connections between hunger and health, asking supporters to consider how it must feel to live with an empty stomach.
In honor of Hunger Action Month, the Atlanta Community Food Bank is participating in several events. That includes National Hunger Action Day on September 13 when supports are encouraged to wear orange and post their outfits on social media using #HungerActionMonth. Atlanta's Skyview ferris wheel will light up orange on Thursday to also bring awareness.
The Atlanta Community Food Bank has additionally planned Lawmakers Day of Service on September 17, family volunteer day on the 22, and its annual Fall For Fashion show on September 25.
