Team owner Arthur Blank kicked off the news conferencing by revealing the new name as "Mercedes-Benz Stadium."

Governor Nathan Deal and Mayor Kasim Reed were also in attendance.

"This is indeed a great day for Georgia," said Deal.

Blank said they wanted a company that could mesh well with both the Falcons and the Atlanta United Football Club.

Officials are promising the partnership with Mercedes-Benz will bring even more opportunity to Atlanta and Georgia. It runs through 2042 and includes official naming rights.

The Mercedes-Benz brand will be inside, outside and on top of the state-of-the-art retractable roof.

Last month. FOX 5 previewed the new stadium at the same time at Blank.

"This new stadium has many more amenities than the old stadium.  It was designed for the fan experience from the very first concept," said Bob Evans, construction foreman.

Arthur Blank admitted to FOX 5’s Doug Evans that critics have not been won over yet by all that has been accomplished so far.

He is confident that will come with the finished product and the work being done behind the scenes on construction of the fan experience.

The $1.5 billion stadium is expected to open in 2017.
