Atlanta man charged with beating, kidnapping his mom, sister
ATLANTA - An Atlanta man has been charged with beating and kidnapping his mother and sister.
Tion Kimble, 20, is charged with two counts each of kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault with intent to murder, and a single count each of hijacking a motor vehicle, criminal damage to property, foreign warrant and willful obstruction of law enforcement.
According to an incident report, police responded to a Chevron gas station on Lee Street for report of a female stating she was nearly fatally injured on Friday. Upon arrival, officers observed Kimble’s sister, Kashawn Stephens, and his mother, Sunday Kimble, with serious injuries. Stephens reportedly had mangled hair, a swollen black eye and blood on parts of her body. Kimble had a cut on her head and blood on her face, the report said.
The women told officers about how Mr. Kimble suddenly went on a violent rampage at a home on Oakland Drive, where he severely beat them and tied them up in the basement. The report said Mr. Kimble initially started assaulting Kashawn but, when his mother tried to break it up, he began hitting her too. Mr. Kimble reportedly threw a bottle at his mother that caused a cut to her head.
As the assault continued, the women told police that Mr. Kimble then tied them up and put blue tape on their wrists and ankles. He held them hostage for two hours and said that he was going to kill his ex-girlfriend, the women said.
“I don’t have anything to live for, I have no girlfriend or family, and that he wanted to kill himself,” Mr. Kimble reportedly told the woman.
The woman said he threatened to kill them if they didn’t come up with $300 to purchase a gun to kill his girlfriend. He also said that he would drop their bodies off to his girlfriend for proof since she is allegedly responsible for an arrested warrant he has in Cobb County, the report said.
Mr. Kimble eventually loaded the battered, bounded women into a car and stopped to get gas at the Chevron gas station. Once he exited the vehicle, the women escaped. Mr. Kimble, who tried to run after them, got back inside the car and fled the scene, the report said.
Police later went to the home, but were reportedly unable to enter because Mr. Kimble had locked the doors.
Both women were taken to Grady Hospital for treatment.
A knife and Mr. Kimble's cell phone were recovered during the investigation.
