Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport lit up their canopy in front of the domestic terminal Friday to commemorate National Human Trafficking Awareness Day.

The day is marked each year on January 11 since 2007.
In 2010, the Obama administration issued a proclamation naming January as National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month.

Meanwhile, Delta hosted its third annual #GetOnBoard event to rally against human trafficking.
Its estimated that 25 million people are trafficked globally each year.
About 71 percent report being trafficked to the United States on an airplane.
On hand for Friday's event was trafficking survivor Megan Lundstrom.
She shared her personal experience of being trafficked and how members of the airline industry can help in the fight to end human trafficking.
Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms also spoke at Friday's event on how the city is working to fight human trafficking.
