Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms has transferred 31 properties over to Atlanta Public Schools.

The deeds have been at the heart of a tense battle between the city and the school system.

A few years ago, APS wanted to sell or repurpose some of the properties, many of which had been owned by the city.

But then-mayor Kasim Reed refused to relinquish the deeds unless potential developers guaranteed affordable housing.

The city said it has agreed to work with APS to make sure the remaining deeds are signed over in the coming weeks.
