Gunman on the run after deadly shooting near Oakland City townhomes, Atlanta police say

One man is dead and now the search is on for the suspected shooter in Oakland City.

ATLANTA - A SWAT standoff in Atlanta's Oakland City neighborhood has turned into a homicide investigation and manhunt for the suspected gunman.

Police believe an argument between two roommates at the Oakland Park Townhomes on Oakland Drive SW led to gunshots Saturday afternoon.

From there, police responded to the scene with the SWAT team. They thought the shooter was still inside the complex.

The standoff lasted for hours, but police cleared the unit and did not locate the shooter. They now believe the suspect is on the run.

Officials have not yet identified the deceased victim nor the suspect.
