Atlanta Police investigate reported rape

ATLANTA - Residents and students on high alert as Atlanta Police investigate a report of a rape in northeast Atlanta.

According to police, the incident took place Tuesday at the America’s Best Value Inn in the 1600 block of Peachtree Street. Police were not able to give further information, as they said the investigation is ongoing.

“That sounds really dangerous for us students here,” said Tameka Aych who is a student at Savannah College of Art and Design.

The school is located just down the street from the motel.

“I walk here almost every day trying to get to and from class and I walk here at all times of the day as well, so it is really dangerous sounding,” said Aych.

Robert Starks lives across the street from where police said the incident took place. Starks said he was attacked about four months in the area while walking to dinner.

“It’s just really kind of shocking to hear that so much is going on around here,” said Starks.

Atlanta Police said they would be able to release more information as they investigate further.
