Officer injured in traffic crash
An Atlanta police officer was injured in a crash along Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW and S Eugenia Pl NW on Feb. 24, 2022.
ATLANTA - An Atlanta police officer was rushed to the hospital early Thursday evening after a crash along a busy northwest Atlanta roadway.
Video shows the officer on the ground along Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW near S. Eugenia Place NW. Atlanta police said the officer involved in that accident suffered a knee injury.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. as the officer was responding to a call. The officer was traveling west on Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy. NW was following a fire truck, that was also responding.
The driver of the Camry turned after the fire truck without realizing the officer was following behind. Police said the two cars collided. Both drivers suffered minor injuries.
The officer was alert and awake when transported to an area hospital for treatment.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
It was not clear if anyone else was injured in the incident.
The officer’s name has not been released.
