Several dozen police officers swarmed a neighborhood in the 5700 block of Highway 85 in Riverdale late Friday night.

Police said it was the end of a long, high-speed police chase. The officers searched the area around Columbia Crossing subdivision which is near Columbia Drive and Interstate 20 for about an hour.

According to the Clayton County Police Department, as two victims exited a vehicle, they were approached by two black males. One of the black males produced a handgun and demanded that the victims give them all of their belongings. While holding the victims at gunpoint, one of the males took the keys to the victims’ vehicle. After taking the keys, one male entered the victims’ vehicle and the other male returned to the vehicle that they arrived in. After doing so, both vehicles were seen traveling south on Highway 85 as they fled the scene.

The victims’ vehicle was listed as stolen by the Clayton County Police Department on December 18. On December 19, the Clayton County Police Department was notified that the vehicle had been located after it was involved in a chase with police from multiple jurisdictions.

The DeKalb County Police Department, Atlanta Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol were all involved in the incident.

Details surrounding this incident are currently under investigation by detectives within the Major Felony Unit of the Clayton County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division.
