A new study has confirmed what many Atlantans may already suspect: the city ranks among the worst in the U.S. for driving.

According to a report by Lance Surety Bonds, Atlanta comes in at No. 3 on the list, trailing only Miami and Portland, Oregon.

The study highlights several factors contributing to Atlanta’s challenging driving conditions, including high motor vehicle death rates and severe congestion.

The report states that Atlanta experiences 3.86 accidents per 1,000 drivers, 20.6 motor vehicle deaths per 100,000 residents, and an average travel time of 2.04 minutes per mile.

While Atlanta struggles, Detroit, Michigan, ranked as the best city for drivers overall.

For winter driving, Boston, Massachusetts, was deemed the worst, followed by Washington, D.C., and Portland.

Conversely, Bakersfield, California, was rated the best city for winter driving, with El Paso and San Antonio, Texas, following close behind.
