Atlanta street celeb seeks help caring for mother, staying in city
ATLANTA - He has been a fixture in Atlanta with his over-the-top style and larger-than-life personality, brightening the streets in Midtown, but now Baton Bob is looking for a little pick-me-up himself.
Arguably one of the most recognizable street characters in Atlanta said he has been taking care of his mother's elder care over the past several years and it has taken a toll on his financial health.
The Ambassador of Mirth posted to his Facebook page:
“…the expense of care for his aging mother has taken a financial toll. It has been an on going and continuous struggle in maintaining the cost of her care. Due to the financial challenge, it has put me in an unbalanced situation. This situation consist of many variables, from maintaining a roof over my head and other living essentials.”
Baton Bob, whose birth name is Bob Jamerson, is reaching out to his fans to try to help him offset the costs and keep him in the city he loves and has shown love to for many years.
“At this point, I am reaching out to my fan base for some unconditional assistance. My partner Gary can only assist so much, and he will become homeless with me. If there is someone, that has a place that we can move into; would be deeply appreciated. Over the last year, the cost of maintaining my mother's home and the cost of maintaining a residence here, has been quite challenging; to say the least,” he wrote.
Bob created a GoFundMe page on Sunday and donations have been trickling in ever since. Anyone who wishes to donate can do so at gofundme.com/to-secure-a-new-place-to-live.
