Atlanta's Salvation Army sending canteens to Carolinas before Hurricane Florence
ATLANTA - The Salvation Army of Metro Atlanta is joining groups from across Georgia to help the Carolinas recover from upcoming Hurricane Florence
The group will be sending a mobile kitchen unit, also known as a canteen, to join other canteens from Newnan, Dublin, and Valdosta at specific staging centers in both North and South Carolina, the group said.

At those locations, staff and volunteers will provide food, water and spiritual care for people affected by Florence.
“Once we see exactly how the storm impacts the eastern coast, we will be able to deploy and redeploy our resources as needed to help those in the most severely affected areas," said Lanita Lloyd, the emergency disaster director for The Salvation Army of Georgia
The canteen is one of 21 that the Salvation Army of Georgia has to respond during emergencies. The rest will be on stand-by for Georgia and other areas on the East Coast.
