Austell Police Shoot Suspect

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation confirmed Austell police officers shot a combative suspect Sunday morning after that suspect stole an officer's stun gun and used it against that officer several times.

According to the GBI, as the suspect was shocking that officer, investigators said other officers opened fire. The suspect was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The ordeal began around 10:30 a.m. Sunday when officers arrived at a home on Whitewater Court in Austell on a domestic disturbance call.

When they arrived, investigators say a man inside the home became combative and attacked the responding officers, stealing one of their tasers in the process. Authorities said even after he was shot, the suspect continued to fight officers.

Several officers were taken to the hospital and were released, including the officer who was shocked by that suspect.

Police  have not released the suspect's name nor have they said what the incident was that caused someone to initially call 911.
