Woman killed along Collier Drive identified

Friends and coworkers of a woman shot and killed early Thursday on Collier Drive identify her as Area Barnett.

She was just 25, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner's office.

Coworkers say she worked at Walmart off Cascade Road and would take the bus to work every morning.

Police say her body was found near a bus stop on Collier Drive around 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

"She was a down to earth person. She would never hurt nobody, and she was always silly, goofy, just to herself, she never bothered nobody, never did nothing to nobody. She was the life of the party. I don't know, it don't make sense," said Tatyana Fannin, the victim's girlfriend.

Body found under I-285 underpass

Homicide detectives are investigating the death of a person whose body was found on the road under an Interstate 285 overpass.

Police closed off part of the road early Thursday as they investigated. "From what we know right now, there was an altercation at the bus stop that resulted in her death," said Lt. Smith.

FOX 5 spoke with her coworkers Thursday afternoon.

"I was her manager. She was a very hard worker," said Kintavion Martin. "She was supposed to work today. She did a no call no show which is very odd of her because she usually, when she doesn't make it, she calls out but she wasn't there at all, and this was around the same time her body was found."

People who knew Barnett say they want justice.

"We're going to make sure we get justice for her because she didn't deserve this. She's too loved," said Fannin. "I love you, Area. Your name will forever live on."

Police have not announced any arrests or suspect information. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Atlanta Crime Stoppers.
