GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Gwinnett County authorities have identified the body of a man found in a pond.
Officials say that a resident discovered the badly-decomposed body floating the lake inside the Durant at Sugarloaf Apartments at Marlowe Drive in Lawrenceville Saturday afternoon.
The body has now been identified as 34-year-old Lawrenceville resident Derek Oxford, who had been reported missing by his girlfriend on Feb. 23.
Police said that Oxford had left his home on Feb. 16 to take a walk and never came home. The report also said that his girlfriend mentioned he was intoxicated when she arrived home from work.
After being fished out, the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner began an investigation to evaluate the body.
They say there were no signs of trauma or foul play.
There's no word on just how long the Oxford may have been in the pond.
