Body found under blanket following vehicle crash, officials say

ATLANTA - A body was found underneath a blanket off of northwest Atlanta road following a deadly vehicle crash.

Atlanta police officers went to 551 Harwell Road and found the driver and the vehicle involving in the wreck. The scene of the investigation was near St. Paul of the Cross Church and Sandy Creek.

The driver on scene was not alert, conscious or breathing, police said.

EMS pronounced the driver dead at the scene. 

Investigators said the driver was traveling in the southbound lane of Harwell Road. At some point the driver lost control of the car and hit a tree.

An investigation continues.
