Body of woman found in Lake Allatoona identified

Authorities have identified the body of a woman found in Lake Allatoona on Sunday.

Monday morning, a spokesperson for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources identified the recovered body as 55-year-old Rhonda Tibbs. Her body was found near the dock Sunday afternoon.

The Bartow County Fire Department said they got a report of a missing woman around 4 a.m. Saturday. They began a search of the water setting up at Park Marina across from the Allatoona Dam.

Crews searched with sector scan sonar in the area Saturday afternoon, but did not find anything.

Reports indicate the woman was last seen on the dock Friday night before disappearing.
