ATLANTA - Some homeowners in Buckhead said they are so disturbed about the crime they may leave the popular area.
A valet working a hotel on Peachtree was held up at gunpoint early Thursday. He was forced to turn over keys to a customer's vehicle.
It is just the latest incident that has made residents uneasy.
They have a perception crime, especially serious acts, is way up.
But what do the latest statistics compiled by the APD show?
Through mid-September overall crime in the community covering the Zone 2 area is up by 13 percent.
What about violent crime? There have been eight murders this year compared to six at the same time in 2017. Aggravated assaults are up – 106 to 95 the same time last year.
Burglaries are also up in Buckhead significantly – 447 to 356. But robberies have been trimmed. So far in 2018, there have been 95 incidents. Last year through mid-September Buckhead already had 126 robberies.
