Canton man dies after tree falls on vehicle in Cherokee County

CHEROKEE COUNTY, Ga. - A 62-year-old man from Canton has died after a tree fell on his vehicle in Cherokee County on Tuesday afternoon, according to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. 

The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. on Union Hill Road near Windflower Court.

Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies found the driver, identified as Phillip Ziegler, trapped in the vehicle upon arrival. Ziegler was quickly transported to North Fulton Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.

No other individuals were in the vehicle at the time of the accident. The incident remains under investigation.
