It has been 100 years since World War I, and before Memorial Day, local volunteers remembered soldiers from Carroll County.

A World War I centennial event was held Saturday morning at the Carroll County Veterans Memorial Park.

Participants remembered 22 young soldiers from the area that died in service.

Guest speaker David Shuey, dressed as U.S. Army General John Pershing, spoke about the entrance into The Great War in 1917.

He will be in Washington, DC on Monday to lead the National Memorial Day Parade.
