Cash for annoying cruise robocall
ATLANTA, Ga. - Finally, an update on a story you've been asking about. More than a year ago I brought you the news that you could get paid for a particularly annoying robocall. And that excited many of our viewers. But then we all waited... and waited ... and waited for the cash. Now there's a break.
A quick preview to catch you up though: A class-action suit has formed that said you, me, or anyone who received a robocall about a cruise offer could get as much as $900 for our troubles. The calls had to have been placed between 2009 and 2014. They were from Resort Marketing Group offering a free cruise on Carnival, Royal Caribbean or Norwegian cruise lines. Many of you jumped at the chance, signing up, confirming that you were a victim, then radio silence.
Here's why. So many people nationwide said that they received these calls that they had to double-check the legitimacy of these claims. They needed to weed out the fakers if you will.
Here's the latest. A judge has said that lawyers have a deadline - October 30 - to provide a better understanding of how many valid, again valid, claimants will receive payments. So, there's still not a firm date for when you will get your disbursement, but you know it's still happening. So hang in there.
Remember the deadline for signing up is long gone. If you want to keep up with the latest bookmark the firm's page: ROBOCALL LINK.
