Charges upgraded against teen accused in deadly shooting of wedding guest

ATLANTA - A man who was robbed and shot while leaving a wedding earlier in July has died from his injuries.

The family of Christian Broder posted an update on his GoFundMe saying that Broder passed away Friday night "surrounded by loved ones."

"We are so grateful for your love and support over the last two weeks as Christian fought so hard," the family posted.

Broder, a general manager and part-owner of a Washington, D.C. events company, and three other people were leaving a wedding reception at Atlanta's Capital City Club on July 7 when they were robbed.

Atlanta police said the four were watched by two men in a white car. One of them got out and pulled a gun on the group. They all gave up their cell phones and other valuables, including wallets.

The robber started walking back toward the getaway car, but Broder started to follow the gunman, who turned and fired a shot, hitting him, police said.

Atlanta Police have arrested 17-year-old Jayden Myrick for the crime. He was charged with three counts of aggravated assault, one count of aggravated battery, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Police now consider the crime a homicide and will be upgrading Myrick's charges to murder.
