Clark Atlanta University's oldest living Alumni celebrates 103rd birthday

The oldest living alumni of Clark College, now Clark Atlanta University turned 103-years-old on Thursday.

Charity Barnes has lived through 18 U.S. presidents, the Great Depression, the attack on Pearl Harbor and the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

On December 11, the Office of Alumni Relations held a grand birthday celebration for Ms. Barnes, who graduated in 1949, with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. At the celebration, Ms. Barnes was inducted into the CAU Centennial Club and presented with a certificate signed by President Ronald A. Johnson and a CAU quilt.

“I’m so excited and thankful for this recognition,” said Ms. Barnes. She was even more elated to learn of the University’s invitation for her to participate in Founders Day Convocation 2017 happening in March.
