COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Due to a generous donation from the Vinings Business Association, the Cobb County Police K9 Unit purchased two K9 First Aid Kits. These kits provide K9 specific first aid items.
Each kit contains specialized muzzles, eye wash, patches, chest packs in case a dog receives a gun shot wounds in the field, oxygen masks and an IV prep kit.
All the medical equipment is for ‘on scene’ emergencies until the police department can get the K9 to a veterinarian.
“The tactical medical operators and the K-9 handlers at the Cobb County Police Department are all certified to use all of the equipment on the dogs,” said Officer Alicia Chilton, PIO Cobb County Police Department.
There are nine total dogs in the department. Two of the four first aid kits for the K9's that the Cobb County Police Department have been funded.
A big thank you to the Vinings Business Association.
