15-year-old shot during Austell fight

A fight at an Austell cellphone store spilled out into the parking lot and erupted into gunfire. Two people were injured, including one of the two suspect gunmen. The victim appears to be a 15-year-old boy.

Austell Road near Perkerson Mill Road was swarmed by police officers on Friday after a reported double shooting. Investigators were combing through two separate shopping centers which Austell police say are linked to the same crime.

It happened around 3 p.m. in the 5200 block of Austell Road. According to the Austell Police Department, an argument between three teens started inside the PHONE RUSH + IPHONE REPAIR store located in a strip mall just south of Perkerson Road.

A man who was at the repair store at the time of the violent episode says the suspects initially got their phones repaired.

"No argument or nothing. I felt like the suspect was trying to steal whatever the victim had, and he just pulled the out the gun on the victim," he said.
