Man shot, killed by MARTA officer at College Park station

A man was shot and killed by a MARTA officer at the College Park station Sunday evening.

MARTA police reported the shooting at around 11:30 p.m. They said the man was seen at around 7:40 p.m. pointing a gun at another person.

An officer located and followed the suspect. The officer said the suspect reached in the direction of the gun, so the officer fired a shot, hitting him.

The man was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. His identity will not be released until the Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office performs an autopsy to determine his cause of death.

Officials have not released any other details about the incident or the officer, but did say the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) was handling the investigation.
