Three years have passed since Connor Mediate was shot and killed during a botched robbery.

His parents are outraged that his accused killers have yet to stand trial.

Milton High School basketball players arrested for murder

The backstory:

Connor Mediate's life came to a tragic end in the parking lot of this Alpharetta apartment complex in October 2021. The 24-year-old Kennesaw State University grad was shot and killed during an attempted robbery at the Collingwood Apartments on Kimball Bridge Road.

Former Milton High School basketball players Jonathan Murray and Cameron Walker were charged with Mediate's murder a month after his death but have yet to stand trial.

Murray remains behind bars at the Fulton County Jail. Walker is under house arrest.

The case has languished in court.

Connor Mediate's family frustrated by delayed justice

What they're saying:

The Mediates are frustrated by the pace of the case and outraged that Walker is free on bond.

"Connor was just a fun-loving kid, loved to joke around, loved sports, loved cars," Connor's father, Joe Mediate told FOX 5. "People loved Connor. He was such a great personality, just a wonderful person to be around."

"We know what happened to Connor, we know he is gone. We feel it every day," Connor's mother Tara Mediate said, "think about him all the time, but there still needs to be closure for our family, that these people will pay for taking their brother's life."

"Why does he get to live outside, doing everything with his family, his friends, having dinner? We don't have that. We were robbed of everything. We will never see Connor, talk to Connor, we would love to be with Connor," Tara Mediate said.

Fulton County DA responds to delay

The other side:

FOX 5 reached out to the Fulton DA's Office for comment; a spokesman stated: "The State respects every defendant’s right to counsel of their choice and acknowledges that scheduling is handled by the presiding judge. The District Attorney’s Office stands ready to proceed with this case when directed by the court."
